POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to necessary alterations < — MONDAY, 14th JANUARY. For Otago, ( verland, at C a.m, and 11 a.in. For Wellington, per St. Kilda, at 1.50 p.m.; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway station, 2,40 p.m, TUESDAY, 15th JANUARY. Mails per Arawata will close as under; — For United Kingdom via Southampton and Brindisi, at 11 a m.; late letters, 11.20 a.m. For Australian Colonies, Otago, the Continent of Europe, via France, Italy or Trieste, India, China, and the East, Aden, Mauritius, Reunion, Natal, Cape of GoodSHope, and the Mediterranean Ports and Foreign Countries, via the United Kingdom, at 11 a.m.; late letters, 11.20 a.m. For registered correspondence, at 10 a.m. For the issue of Post Office money orders, 9.30 a.m. Newspapers and book packets must be posted by 10 a.m. Letters, &c., forwarded from Canterbury on the 15th instant to the United Kingdom via Brindisi, will be due in London on the 11th March ; letters, &c., forwarded via Southampton will be due in London on the 18th March. Late letters for transmission per Arawata may be posted in the guard’s van attached to the Lyttelton train leaving the Christchurch station at 12.10 p.m. on the 15th inst, provided such letters bear in addition to the full postage a further single rate of postage as a late fee. For Northern ports, per Hawoa, at 3 p.m.; late letters, 3.20 p.m.; railway station, 4p.m. train. For Wellington, Newcastle, and Sydney, per Easby, 11 a.m.; late letters, 11.20; railway station, 12.10p.m. train. For Wellington, Westport, Greymouth, and Hokitika, per Grafton.
