Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to necessary alterations WEDNESDAY, 9th JAN. For Otago, c verlnnd, at 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. For Akaroa and Otago, per Ladybird, at 1.50p.m.; late letters, 2.10 p.m. ; railway station, per 2.10 p.m. train. For Northern ports, January 10th. For Wellington and Nelson, per Arawata. For Chatham Islands, per Omaha, on Friday, the 11th instant, at 10 a.m. The next Eng.ish mail (via Southampton and Brindisi) will close at Christchurch on or about the 14th inst. SYDNEY J. DICK.
