A REMARKABLE ACCIDENT.
In the " Domestic Intelligence" of the "European Magazine" for June 19th, 1793, we read :—" At Ascot races a very singular and remarkable accident happened to Mr Anderson's horse, brother to Dare Devil, in resuming the third heat After the horse had gained the summit of the Hill near the King's Stand, he suddenly faltered, and, with the shock, threw his rider a considerable distance without falling himself. Upon examining the horse, it was discovered that both his fore legs were broken, and that he had galloped near 18 yards on the stumps when he made the dead stop. The accident can be accounted for in no other way than that it is supposed the hardness of the ground dislocated the fetlock joint of the off Teg, and, in running with full speed, the near leg just above the same joint was completely broken.
