POST OFFICE NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post, Office for tht following places as under, subject to v* alterations: — FRIDAY, JANUARY 4th. For Otago, cverland, at II a.m. Mails per Hawca will close as wider:— For United Kingdom via San Francisco at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. For Continent of Enrope via San Francisco. United States of America, the Dominion of Canada, Sandwich Islands, Sydney, N.S.W., and Northern Ports of Now Zealand at 1 p.m. ; late letters. 1.20 p.m. For the issue of money orders and the registration of letters, at 11.30 a.m. For hooks and newspapers at noon. Late letters for mails per Hawc.a can he posted in the guard’s van attached to the train leaving Christchurch for Lyttelton, at 2.40 p.m., provided such letters bear in addition to the full postage a further single rate as a late fee. The British mails will lie due in London on or about February the 19th, I*7B, and the American mail will be due in San Francisco on or about January 31st, 1878. For Kaikoura aud Wellington, per Tni, at 1.45 p.m. Tbo late letter box, guards’ van, must not bo nsed for Tni’s mails. SATURDAY, JANUARY sth. For Otagc, overland, at 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. For Souther: ports, per Taranaki, at 11 a.m. Late letters, at 11,20 a.m.; railway station, per 12.10 p.m. train. For Wellington, Nelson, Westport, Greymonth, Hokitika, and Australian colonies, per Tararna, at 1.50 p.m. Late bite letters at 2.10 p.m.; railway station per 2.40 p.m. train.
