MAGISTRATES' COURTS.

CHRISTCHURCH. Friday, Decembeb 28. [Before Dr. Back and A. Lean, Esq., J.P.'s.] Dbttnk and Disobdebly.—For this offence "W. Warner was fined £3 ; Elizabeth Bennett, 10s; H. McLauchan was discharged with a caution ; W. Calder was fined 5s ; and J. Dowling alias W. Johnson in the same amount.

Indecency.—Elizabeth Howell, for committing an act of indecency in the Domain, was sent to gaol for six months. Bbeach op the Public House Obdinance.—J. O. Sheppard was charged with to other than a lodger on Christmas Day. From the evidence it was shown that although the person supplied with drink was staying at the Central Hotel he resided at Selwyn, and had been to Port Lyttelton the same day. In cross-examina-tion by Mr Thomas, he admitted that although it was understood he was to stop at the Central that night he had not actually engaged a bed. The Bench dismissed the case.

LYTTELTON. Feiday, Decembeb 28. [Before W. Donald, Esq., E.M.] Absent Without Leave. —Matthew Nelson and John Burns, seamen belonging to the Island Lily, were charged by Captain Cooper with this offence, and sentenced to four days' imprisonment. Civil. —Budd v. Skett, claim £9; judgment for defendant.
