The s.s. Wakatipu, from Port Chalmers ; Maori, from Nelson and West Coast; and Taupo, from Auckland, via East Coast and Wellington, arrived this morning. They sail for Sydney, via Wellington, for Dunedin, and for Akaroa and Port Chalmers respectively this afternoon. The Luna and Grafton, steamers, from Wellington and West Coast, arrived to-day. The former sails on return trip to-morrow, and the Grafton on Monday next. The Taupo sailed shortly after 1 p.m. The Tui and Despatch, steamers, sail for Kaikoura, Wellington, and Foxton and Greymouth respectively this evening. The paddle tug Dispatch, Captain Kitchingham, on her way to Greymouth from Dunedin, put in an appearance yesterday at 4.30 p.m., and moored at the tunnel wharf. Her master reports leaving Dunedin at 4 a.m. on 25th, and having fresh N.E. up the coast. During her stay in Dunedin she has been thoroughly repaired. On Friday, steam was raised in her, and in the afternoon she took a short spin down the Upper Harbour, going as far as Ravensbourne and back. The engines worked very well, and the new boiler, made by Messrs Kincaid, M'Queen and Co., gave great satisfaction, and Clearly demonstrated its ability to generate even more than sufficient steam. The Dispatch is now in capital order, and goes to the scene of her former operations—Greymouth—as good a boat almost as when she first arrived there. Several worn plates in her bottom and topsides have been replaced with new ones, faulty angle irons have been taken out, new bulwarks and rail have been supplied, the deck planking renewed where required j in fact, she is as fit as a fiddle for the work she will have to nndortake. She sails for Greymouth to-morrow evening. , The s.s. Ladybird sailed at 3.45 p.m. yesterday for Auckland, via Wellington and East Coast. The "Timaru Herald" of Wednesday mentions that the schooner Kate Macgregor was still in the roadstead riding at one anchor, she having lost the other one during last Saturday night's gale. Efforts were made on Tuesday to recover the lost anchor, but the weather proving too rough the boat services were unable to launch their boats. Of the Home ships expected at Port Chalmers, one or two, says the " Morning Herald," may put in an appearance at any moment. The New Zealand Shipping Company's ship Sarah Bell is now out eighty-five days, and the Albion Company's ship Auckland eighty-two days, both from London. The latter company's ship Canterbury is eighty-four days out from Glasgow. The erection of the lighthouse at Centre Island (says the "Western Star") is now complete, and Mr Cameron, the only resident on the island, is once more "monarch of all he surveys," the workmen having left last week. The furnishing of the lights and appliances will be proceeded with shortly. We may therefore hope soon to see this warning beacon shining forth its kindly welcome to navigators of the Strait.
