CITY COUNCIL.
Monday, December 24. A special meeting of the Council was held at 4 p.m. Present —His Worship the Mayor, Crs. Ruddenklau, Bird, Briggs, and Ick. THE WATERING- BATE. His Worship said that the special meeting had been called to confirm a resolution of the Council, passed on 19th November, making a special rate of lid in the £ for watering certain streets in the city. Or. Ick moved—“ That the resolution of the Council, passed on 19th November, respecting the watering rate of lid, be confirmed, and that the Mayor sign the rate book, as provided by clause 41 of the Rating Act, 1876.” Cr. Bird seconded the motion, which, was agreed to. PRIVATE STREETS. The next business before the Council was the confirming of a certain resolution, passed on 19th November, taking over as public streets Carlton street and Park street on and after 2nd January, 187 S, Cr. Ick moved—“ That the resolution of the Council, relative to the taking over of
Park and Carlton streets, passed on the 19th November, be confirmed, and that his Worship the Mayor be requested to seal the same with the seal of the Council, and that the Town Clerk give the requisite public notice of the same.” Cr. Bird seconded the motion, which was agreed to. ADJOURNMENT. In consequence of Tuesday being New Year’s Day, it was resolved that the next meeting of the Council should be held on Wednesday, January 2nd, 1878. TENDERS. Tenders were submitted for the supply of dog collars for the ensuing year, and for the formation, shingling, and draining of Barbadoes street. For the former that of Mr Dunbar was accepted, and for the latter that of Messrs Butler and Malley, for £355 for the whole work. The meeting then adjourned.
