CRICKET.

AUCKLAND v. CANTERBURY.! [by telegraph, prom the correspondent OF THE PRESS.] Auckland, December 24. The Canterbury cricketers arrived yesterday, and were received most cordially. They visited the ground to-day. It is prettily situated in a valley at the rear of the Hospital, and was only laid down last year. The practice wicket is rather rough. The light was difficult at first, but most of the men shaped fairly. The match wicket looks well, and is expected to play true. His Worship the Mayor of Auckland, Mr H. Brett, has presented the Eleven with season tickets to the Theatre. They go to Hamilton tomorrow, a special carriage being placed at their disposal.
