At the conclusion of the presentation the chairman said that the school would be reopened on January 21st, and hoped that in meantime the children would not wholly neglect their lessons, but would come back to school prepared at least to take up their work where it was left off, and that those who had not received prizes would not be disheartened, but would endeavor to obtain them next year; even if they then failed they would have increased their knowledge, and that would be a far more valuable prize to them in after life. The attendance prizes for this year had been very hardly earned, some of the winners having only missed one attendance throughout the year. Three cheers were then given for the teachers, and the company dispersed.
