AUSTRALIAN.
Adelaide, Friday. Parliament has been prorogued. The Governor, in his speech, said the labors of the session were exceptionally important. The measures which had been sanctioned would improve national education and increase facilities of communication by the extension of railways. Other important works tending to the progress of the colony would now be prosecuted. The Bill consolidating the land laws woidd give increased security to persons engaged in squatting, mining, and agricultural pursuits. The Grovernor congratulated Parliament on the exercise of mutual forbearance by which disputes in both Chambers had been satisfactorily adjusted. He said that the prospects of the colony were greatly improved, there being many evidences of material wealth.
