The brigantine Island Lily arrived from Chatham Islands this morning. The ship Crusader cleared this morning for Loudon. The barque Canny Scot, Captain Mausou, left Newcastle on December Bth, and had moderate and light northerly weather across. Made Cape Farewell on December 18th, and cleared the straits next day when the vessel was becalmed until 3 p.m. A N.E. breeze then sprang up, and the heads were sighted yesterday morning, the barque anchoring off the breakwater at 3 p.m. The Emperor cleared the Customs for Newcastle yesterday, and goes out into the stream to-day ready for sea. The ship Crusader finished loading last night, and will clear to-day. The |Maud Graham was at Kaipara on the 20th ready for sailing for this port. The Halcione’s discharge is proceeding rapidly, and she will commence taking in cargo for home toshe Eakaia is discharging fast, and has already commenced loading wool and grain. The Queensland after discharging 50 tons coal into broad gauge waggons at the tunnel mouth wharf was shifted to No. 3 wharf yesterday afternoon to complete unloading into narrow gauge trucks. The masters of vessels complain much of the expense and time lost in these removals. The Loch Fleet has now a quantity of grain aboard, and is bending sails ready to proceed to Auckland to finish her loading. Messsrs Fraser and Tinne’s new iron steamer Eotoiti took an engineer’s trial trip in Auckland harbor, her machinery working very satisfactorily, considering her stiffness and heating of bearings, &c., invariably experienced with all new machinery. "When all works smoothly, eleven knots may be expected from her, and she will doubtless prove a useful addition to the colonial steam fleet.
