Eoyse, Stead and Co., agents. The s.s. Wakatipu arrived from Sydney, via Wellington, at 11.30 a.m., and sails for Port Chalmers this afternoon. The Queensland, barque, arrived from Newcastle, and the Mary King, schooner, from Picton, this morning. The s.s. St. Kilda sailed for Wellington and Wanganui at noon to-day. v. The Government s.s. Stella arrived at the Heads yesterday afternoon, landed stores at the Lighthouse, and then steamed up harbor to load fifty barrels of cement from the ship Halcione for the lighthouse works at Puysegur Point. The barque Queensland sailed from Newcastle for this port on December 7th, and the Canny Scot on the Bth. The Italy arrived at Newcastle from this port on December 6th, the Australian Sovereign on the Bth, and the Silas Fish on the 10th. The barque Tasso was shifted from the Tunnel to No. 4 Wharf yesterday to discharge. The s.s. St. Kilda, Captain Flowerday, left Port Chalmers on Monday at 9 p.m, and reached Oamarn at 3 a.m. next day; sailed again at 4.30 p.m., and arrived in harbor at 4.30 p.m. Had N.E. winds up the coast. She sails for Wellington and Wanganui at 11 a.m. to-day. AEBIVAL OP THE GLENLOEA, PROM LONDON. The following is the captain’s report of the voyage:— Left London on September 18th. Passed the Downs on the same date, and took final departure from the Start on the 21st. Had light westerly winds in channel, and northerly across the Bay. Sighted Madeira September 27th, 9 days out. Got N.E. trades on October Ist; they proved very light and were lost in lOdeg. N. on October 12th. Caught S.E. trades in 1 degree N. on October 20th, and crossed Equator following day. The S.E. trades were carried to 21deg. S., and lost on October 28th. Passed island of Tristan D’Acunha on November Bth, 8 miles distant, and were abreast of Cape of Good Hope 58 days from London on November 15th Passed Marion Island 3 days later 7 miles distant. On Nov. 21st passed small iceberg in lat. 48'7 S., 63-14 E. On December 2nd, at 9 p.m. passed a very large iceberg in lat. 48.28 S. and 97 E. At daylight next morning icebergs were seen all round, gome of them very high from 300 to 350 feet. We passed them continually all day. December 4th, still among the ice, and at 4 p.m. sailed through a field of small ice with one very large berg. Ean down easting in 48 S., having to go to south of Kerguelen’s land owing to easterly winds. With the exception of a few days the westerlies were fair. Made the Snares on Friday, 14th December, and had variable winds and calms up the coast. Made Heads at midnight on Tuesday, and ran inside before easterly wind, dropping anchor off the breakwater at 8.45 a.m. yesterday. The Glenlora brings a large and valuable cargo consigned to Dalgety, Nichols and Co. The Mary Ann Wilson was spoken to the north of the line, and the Wave of Life off the Cape. Several other vessels were also signalled, but none of them have any interest for Canterbury residents, being homeward bound ships spoken near England. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Auckland, December 19. Arrived—City of Sydney, from Sydney ; Eotorua, from Napier; Tanpo, from Bussell; Taranaki, from the South. Sailed— City of Sydney, for San Francisco; Taranaki, for South, The Hero is expected on the 19th from Sydney. Wellington, December 10. Sailed— Wakatipu, for Lyttelton, at 6 p.m. Passengers—Messrs Robinson, Fowler, Gibbs, Campbell, Tewsley, Schott, Hon. Mr Larnach and family, Hon. Mr Johnston, Schwabe, J. Goss, Chapman, Misses Dougherty, Crease, Howarth. Mr and Mrs Patterson. Arrived, at 3 p.m.—Wanaka, s.s., from Lyttelton.
