MAGISTRATES' COURT.
CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, December 19. [Before Gh L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness.—Three "drunks," being first offenders, were fined 5s each; Thomas Reese was fined 10s, and Theresa Dixon, a familiar face in the Court, was fined 60s, and cautioned to be careful of what she was about. Illegally on Pbemises.—David Anderson admitted having been illegally on the premises of the Orange Hall,Worcester street, and was sentenced to 48 hours' imprisonment. LYTTELTON. Wednesday, December 1.9. [Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M.] Dbt/nkenness. —Thomas Stewart and John Kydd, charged with the above were each fined 10b., or in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. Absent Without Leave. —Thos. Jones, a seaman belonging to the brig Star of Merßey, was charged with this offence and sentenced to seven days' imprisonment with hard labor. Civil Cases.—Nalder v Underhill, claim £1 8s ; judgment by confession, with costs 6s. Meyruh'an v Ellis, claim £6 12s 3d ; judgment summons; defendant ordered to pay £1 10s per month, or in default two months' imprisonment.
