YESTERDAY’S TELEGRAMS
INTERRED YIN CIAL. [PER PRESS AGENCY.] Napier, December 14. In the Supreme Court last night the jury returned a verdict of “ Not Guilty ” in the case of J. R. Donnelly, charged with horsestealing. Supreme Court. Timaru. [PEOM THE CORRESPONDENT OP THE PRESS.] Timaru, December 14. The whole of the time of the Supreme Court to-day was occupied over the case of arson against Brekerdike, of Waimate, which is not yet concluded. The Grand Jury returned true bills against Sand ford for burglary, McLeod for obtaining money under false pretences, and Casey for larceny. No bill was found against Edward Ball, of the “South Canterbury Times,” for libel. [per press agency,] In the libel case Ward v. Ball the Grand Jury, after several interviews with Judge Johnston, returned no bill, which caused great sensation in Court, sympathy being apparently much in the defendant’s favor.
