POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, sahjeot to necessary alterations MONDAY, DECEMBEE 17. For Otago, overland, at 6 a.m. Local mails for Northern offices will close at 6.30 a.m., and for Southern offices at 6 a.m. Eor Northern ports, per Wellington, at 10.30 a.m. For Sydney and Brisbane, per Easby, at 10.30 a.m. This day (Monday) having been proclaimed a. Post-office holiday, the Christchurch Post-office will remain open to the public from!) to 11 a.m. Country and ship mails received after 11 a.m. will he distributed between 8 and 0 p in. TUESDAY, DECEMBEE 18. Mails per Arawata will close as under:— For the United Kingdom, via Southampton and Brindisi, at 11 a.m.: late letters, 11.20 a.m. Eor Australian Colonies and Otago, at 11. a.m,; late letters, at 11.20 a.m. For the Continent of Europe, India, China, Mediterranean Ports, &c., &c., at 11 a.m.; late letters, 11.20 a.m. Eegistered letters and money orders, at 10 a.m. Book packets and newspapers, at 10.30 a.m. Late letters for the mails per Arawata can ho posted in the gnard’s van attached to the train leaving Christchurch for Lyttelton at 12.10 p.m. oil the 18th iust, provided such letters bear in addition to the full postage a further single rate of postage as a late fee. For Northern ports, per Wanaka, at 3 p.m.: late letters, at 2.30 p.m.; railway station, per 4 p.m. train. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
