C.R.C. SENIOR AND JUNIOR PAIRS. The second heat for the senior and the final heat for the junior pair-oar races for prizes presented to the above club bj Messrs A. F. M. Blackiston and R. D. Thomas were pulled off on the Avon last evening. The final heat for the juniors was between Smith and Bassett and Fooks and Spencer, the former crew winning a pluckily pulled race by a couple of lengths. The heat between Pavitt and Evans and Lanauze and Paul was looked upon as the race of the evening, but Lanauze’s really fine and plucky stroke had a very telling effect, and after going about half a mile the latter crew got a lead which was kept to the finish. The final heat will be pulled off this evening between L. M. Ollivier and Lean and Lanauze and Paul. Judging from the manner in which the latter crew pulled through their two heats, the final one should be a good race, though it can hardly be expected that Lanauze and Paul will be able to hold their own against two such dangerous opponents as Ollivier and Lean, both of the latter having already won many good races on the river, besides the wellmerited credit of being two of the best oarsmen in the club. The following are the details of last night’s racing : Seniors. EIEST HEAT. Moa, north bank—J. R. Lanauze and E, J. Paul (C. Manning, cox.) ... ... i Tui, south bank —A. R. Pavitt and J. B. Evans (C.
