GRAND LODGE OF GOOD TEMPLARS.
Wednesday, Deo. Id. A motion was tabled “That the Grand Lodge of New Zealand, South, take' steps to affiliate with the If.W.G. Lodge of the World.” As an amendment it was moved “ That this Grand Lodge of New Zealand South, re-affirm its loyal allegiance to the N."VYG. Lodged’ Amendment carried and became’ substantive motion, wh,en it was moved that the following be added —“ That a committee, consoling of Bro. .Jago, G-W.0.T., Bros. Bennetts, Grcig, Trumble, and Phillips, be appointed to prepare a series of resoluij ions clearly expressing the views of this Grand Lodge, and its position in relation to the Negro Question.” Carried unanimously. Resolved —“ That the Grand Lodge accept the motion of the G.W.C.T. of N.i'.hT., intimated in the annual report from the G.W.C.T., and send one of our members to represent ua at the coining Annual Session of the Grand Lodge of N.Z. North, to be held at Wellington next month, and to instruct the Grand Lodge Executive to give effect thereto.” The G.W.C.T, Bro. -T W. Jago, opened in the G. L. Degree. Bros. Bouse and Conn 0 !!5, representatives of the Grey Yalley district, here presented their credentials, and took their seats. The Committee on Credentials, having examined the credentials of those
present, reported the following member? eligible under the Grand Lodge De grec, which was accordingly conferred upon them: —Good Hope Lodge, No. 13—Bro. David Leach. Welcome Retreat, No. 44—8r0. William Bailey. Resolved * Multiplication of Grand Lodges,” be adopted as printed.” Resolved—“ That the number of the Executive officers be six, viz., P.G.W.0.T., G.W.0.T., G.W.V.T., G.W.S., and G.W.T. The following is the list of the elective and appointed officers for the ensuing year:—G.W.O.T., Bro. J. W. Jago (reelected) ; G.W. Counsellor, Bro. A. G. Price ; G.W.Y.T., Bro. Thomas Smith; G.W.S., Bro. D. 0. Cameron (re-elected) ; G.W.T,, Bro. W. Carr (re-elected) ; G.W.C., Bro. the Rev. T. E. Ash; G.W.M., Bro. H. W. Sandel; G.5.1.T., Bro. J. T. Smith. In the evening Bro. J. W. Jago opened in the Grand Lodge Degree, The following members presented their credentials to receive the Grand Lodge Degree, the committee having reported favorably : —Rock of Freedom, No. 151— Bro. John Elworthy. Good Hope, No. 43 — Bros. John Corpet, Job Brown, and A. 11. Russell. Lifeboat, No. 101 —Bro. Wm. Leggitt. Alexandra, No. 24 —Bro. John Y. Ward. The installation of the elected and appointed officers was then proceeded with. Bro. Robert Grcig, at the request of the G.W.C.T., and being the oldest member of the Order present, conducted the installation, assisted by Bro. R. W. Monson, as R.W.G. Marshal, and Bro. S. C. Phillips asR.W.G.D. Marshal.
