CHRISTCHURCH Friday, December 14. [Before GK L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness.— Johanna G-allagher, arrested for drunkenness, was fined 20s ; Robt. Larkin was fined 10s. Stabbing. —John Jones was charged with stabbing Charles Thornton, at Lyttelton. — Detective Benjamin stated that when he arrested the accused on the previous night, having told him the charge, he said witness had got hold of the right man, that it had been done in a drunken row, and he did not know what had possessed him to take up a knife to the old man.—lnspector Hickson asked for a remand to Lyttelton until the 18th inst. Remand granted as asked. LYTTELTON. Friday, December 14. [Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness. — John O’Donnell and H. Thompson alias Peterson, charged with the above, were each fined 10s, or in default 48 hours’ imprisonment. Absent without Leave— John O’Donnell was charged by Captain Priston, of the Rakaia, with this offence, and sentenced to three days’ imprisonment with hard labor.
