POST OFFICE NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Offloo for the following plaoes as under, subject to necessary alteration a:— FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14. For Otago, overland, at 11 a.m. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15. For Dnnedin, overland, at 6 a.m. Mails per Rotorua will close as under : For United Kingdom via San Francisco at 3 p.m.; late letters, 3.20 p.m. For Continent of Europe, Canada, United States, Sandwich Islands, at 3 p.m. ; late letters, 3.20 p.m, For Northern Ports of New Zealand and Sydney, at 3 p.m.; late letters, 3.20 p.m. Money orders can be obtained up to 1 p.m. Registered letters for all ports must be posted by 1 p.m. Books and newspapers, 2 p.m. Late letters for the mails per Rotorua can be posted in the guard's van attached to the train leaving Christchurch for Lyttelton at 4 p.m. on the 15th instant, provided such letters bear in addition to the full postage a further single rate of postage as a late fee. The American mails per Rotorua will be dueiu San Francisco on or about the 10th January, 1878, and British mails will arrive at London on or about the 31st January, 1878. MONDAY, DECEMBER 17.
