» The revenue collected at the Customs on Tuesday, December 11th, amounted to £582 10s 9d. The following were the items :—Wines and spirits, £304 18s lOd; bottled beer, £33 12s 6d; tobacco, £l4 2s (id; cigars, £24 15s ; tea, £33 lis Cd j sugar, £SB 2s sdj oilmen's stores, £2O 18s; candles, £7 16s 3d; marmalade, £7 18s; dried fruits, £2 13s 9d ; hops, £69 16s ; sundries, £4 Gs. COLONIAL GOVEKNMENT BONDS. Mr W. "Westgarth in his circular of October 26th, on the subject of colonial securities, says : Our usual circular was not issued on the last four-wcekry occasion, on 28th ultino, as there were but few changes of prico to record, and comparatively little business during that, holiday-making rcouti. Tho general market, however, became firm towards its termination, and for a few days in October, there wa> cont-iderablobusinessat advancing prices in tho chief colonial securi ies, until the advance in tho Eank rate on the 4th from 3 to 4 per cent. This being followed on the 11th by a further advance to 5 per cent, prices gave way, and there was almost a complete check to business in the most of the Colonia. Government bonds. But, as on former like occasions, the effect was neither important or lasting, and the Australian and New Zealand stocks have again j ustifled their high repute for steadiness of value.
