Mr Thomson thought that the rescinding of the resolution had been carried out in a very thin meeting of the committee, and by a sort: of side-wind. JVo member of the committee who had voted for the amendment had any knowledge o! the intention to rescind the resolution,
Mi Hebdcn denied that there had beep rmy side wind, lie bad given notice of his intention to move rhe rescinding of the resolution at a previous meeting when all the members were present, so that they were fully aware of what his intentions were. The Chairman pointed out that the votin. of the money was only contingent on tin funds being in hand to provide the money necessary to carry out the vr ork. His Worship the Mayor said that the letter asking for a grant in aid of the sports had not been presented at the last meeting. The Chairman said he desired to point, out that the Provincial Q-ovcrnment, on whom the\ had been accustomed to rch, had passed away, and they now looked to the City Council as their natural protectors.
