The Chief Commissioner of the Dublin Police introduces a curious feature in his annual report —that of the height and weight of his men. From the last return issued we iind that he has 1100 constables, whose average height is sft 10Jin, and whoso average weight is 12st lllb. “ Did you ever,” asks an American paper, “ watch the noiseless movements of a pretty girl’s lips as her dress is trodden upon, and marvel at the self-command which enables her to do the situation justice in so quiet a manner ? A dozen fonts of type wouldn’t furnish dashes enough to represent the remarks of the average mam under like incitement.”
