PARLIAMENTARY INCIDENTS.

THE EDUCATION BILL. [erGM THE CORRESPONDENT OP THE PRESS.] Wellington, November 25. The following are the reasons assigned by the House of Representatives for disagreeing to the amendments made by the Legislative Council in clauses 8, 63, and 83 of the Education Bill: —1. That the provisions of section 8 arc necessary to secure the distribution of moneys voted by Parliament to the different Education Boards according to average daily attendance, and that without such provision such moneys would be at the absolute disposal of the Ministry of the day. 2, That in the 63rd section provision for holding the annual meeting of householders on the fourth Monday in January is more convenient than that of fixing the first Monday for that purpose. 3. That with reference to section 83 the general policy of the Bill is to leave religious education to the several denominations, and that provisions existed in the Act, without the amended subsection 4, for allowing the use of school buildings out of school hours for any purposes, including that of religious teaching, which the committee might approve. The Council will probably give way on the religious clause, and a compromise will be effected as to the remainder. The Bill is sure to pass in some form. There is nothing important on the order paper for to-night.
