The s.s. Wanaka arrived from Akaroa and Tort Chalmers this morning, and sails North this GVGUIIIJ? The brig Clematis, from Hobart Town, was coming up the harbour when our express left Port. She brings a cargo of assorted timber for Mr P. Laurie. The Zior and Mary King, from Timaru, and Transit, frcm Pelorus Sound, arrived this morning, and the Sarah and Mary, brigautine, from Kaipara, lastnight. . _ The schooner Excelsior, Captain Hunt, left Havelock on Tuesday, November 20th, clenred the Sound next day with a light N.W. wind, winch held till passing the Brothers at 10 p.m. on Wednesday; passed Cape Campbell at 2 a.m. on Thursday, and JCaikouras at noon, with a northerly wind; passed the Hurunui river same day, with a N.W. breeze, which lasted till off the Heads on Friday morning; thence light S.W. till arrival in harbor at 3 p.m. yesterday. She brings timber. _ The schooner Fiery Cross, Captain Mason, left Picton on Tuesday, November 20th, with a S.E. wind, which held till off the Heads yesterday morning ; thence light S.W. till arrival in harbor at 3 p.m'. yesterday. She brings a cargo of timber. The Excelsior was berthed at the Tunnel Wharf and the Fiery Cross at Peacock's W harf. From the Nelson papers we have further particulars of the drowning of the captain and one of the seamen of the Emma, from Mauritius bound to Nelson. It appears that the vessel was running before a heavy north-west gale, when she was pooped by a tremendous sea, which swept the deck, carrying with it the captain and a seaman. The vessel was going at the rate of twelve knots per hour, and it was thought that if she was brought to the wind with the very heavy sea that was running, She would most probably founder; consequently, no attempt could be made to save the lives of the two unfortunate men. ARRIVAL OF THE LOCH FLEET. The ship Loch Fleet, under charter to the New Zealand Shipping Company, was signalled this morning. She left Deal on August 19th, and has therefore been ninety-seven days out. There was a, fair wind in, and. though the vessel was still outside when our express left at 1 p.m., she will doubtiess reach her anchorage during the afternoon. Besides a large and valuable cargo, the Loch Fleet brings nine saloon and thirteen steerage passengers. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Port Chalmers, November 23, Arrived—Wakatipu, from Lyttelton.
