CANTERBURY ROWING CLUB.
| The following are the entries for the senior | and junior sculling races which are fixed for | Saturday next: — | Sknxok —First Heat —L.M. Ollivior, scratch; E. J. Lauanze, six lengths. Second Heat —T. j Grierson, two lengths; M. Bowron, two lengths. Third Heat, E. W. Seaton, six lengths: It. | Snow, six lengths. j Junior —First Heat —A. A. Fooks, scratch ; |A. 0. Lean, scratch. Second Heat—J. Grierson, three lengths; .). M. Heywood, six lengths. Third Heat—Newton, six lengths; Pearson, six | lengths, | The races will be rowed over a mile course j —from Butterfield’s to Cowliahaw’s coruer. | It will be remembered that last year the final 1 heat for the senior was pulled off between Messrs Jones and Ollivier, the latter receiving i two lengths start, and winning a capital race |by about three lengths. This year the name j of the former competitor does not appear | amongst the entries, and barring accidents, the I final heat will most likely be between Messrs ! Ollivier and T. Grierson. Should this be the | case, a good race will doubtless be the result, and the successful competitor of last year | will not be far behind at the winning post. 1 For the junior race Fooks and Lean are the two favorites, and judging from the previous performances of these two promising scullers a close contest may be looked for, though in all probability the former will be first at the winning post.
