Taranaki arrived from Northern ports at 8.30 this morning, and sailed South shortly after 1 p.m. , The s.s. St. Kilda arrived last evening, and sailed this morning for Dunedin. CLEARANCE OF THE WAIMATE. The N. Z. Shipping Company’s ship Waiinate cleared the Customs last night, was towed into the stream at 3 p.m. by the p.s. Titan, and will proceed to sea this afternoon on the arrival of the 2.30 p.m. train from Christchurch. She is in fine trim, drawing some 17ft. 6ia. forward and 17ft. 9in. aft. and should, with average weather, make a good run. Besides an unusually valuable cargo -one of the richest, if not the richest, that ever left Lyttelton —the Waimate, as is usual with these liners, takes a good complement of passengers. Wellington, November 20. Arrived—Elizabeth Conway, from Lyttelton. Wakatipu, from Sydney. Passengers, for Lyttelton—Mrs Ingram and family, Messrs Johnston, Meares, Brown ; and 94 tons cargo. The s.s. Wakatipu leaves for the South to-morrow afternoon at half-past 3. Port Chalmers, November 21. Arrived —The New Zealand Shipping Company’s ship Waipa, eighty-six days from Plymouth. She brings seven saloon and 212 steerage passengers (immigrants). There have been five cases of scarlet fever, two of whooping cough. Two deaths of infants have occurred from congestion supervening on whooping cough. The ship has been placed in quarantine. The passengers go to Quarantine Island.
