In a Christchurch telegram the other day it was stated that the Christchurch Acclimatisation Society complain that they have only received the 50,000 salmon ova which they themselves had paid for, but none of the 100,000 promised to them by the Government. The facts of the case are understood to be as follow : —The American Society sent by the last San Francisco mail steamer ten boxes of ova, containing 10,000 each, and one of these boxes was given to the Christchurch Society, as had been always intended. They paid nothing for this 50,000, and they were never led to expect 10,000 from Government.
