POST OFFICE NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to necessary alterations : SATURDAY, November 17. For Otago, overland, at 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. For Akaroa and Dunedin, per AVanaka, at 11 a.m.; late letters. 11.20 a.m. ; railway station, 12.1(1 p.m. train. MONDAY, November 19. For Otago, overland, at (3 a.m. Mails per Arawata will close as under: — For the United Kingdom, via Southampton and Brindisi, at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. For the Continent of Europe, Point de Gallc, India, China, and the East, Mediterranean Ports, &c, &c., at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. For Otago, and Australian Colonies, at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. For posting registered correspondence, noon. Money orders can be obtained up to 11 a.m. Newspapers and book packets must be posted before noon. Late letters for transmission per Arawata on the 19th inst. can be posted in guard's van attached to the 2.30 p.m. train for Lyttelton, provided such letters bear an additional rate of postage as a late fee. For Chatham Islands, per Island Lily, on or about November 22nd. For Local moils and postal rates, see Guide No. lfi. A new post office has been opened at Watertou, Ashbnrton County, and Mr Henry Hudson appointed postmastar.
