MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday, November, 15. [Before Q-. L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness. Frauds South, aliu-s Smith, was charged with drunkenness and with using obscene language. Inspector Buckley stated that the man was not well, as he was suffering from the effects of drink. Dr. Coward had recommended that he should bo sent to Lyttelton for a few days. There was nothing seriously wrong with the man, who affected more than he felt, but he was suffering from drink. His Worship, concurring with the view expressed, remanded South till the 22nd hist. Two first offenders were fined in the usual amounts. LYTTELTON. Thursday, November 15. [Before H. Allwright, Esq., J.P.] Drunkenness.—An inebriate, who appeared for the first time, was dismissed unon payment of is (id cart-hire. Drunk and Using Obscene Language. —John Brien was charged by Constable Sullen with this offence, and fined I'Js; or, in default, forty-eight hours’ imprisonment.
