CLYDESDALE STOCK.
A clearing sale of Clydesdale stock was held at Mr James Walls’s farm, Kaiapoi Island, on Tuesday. There was a largo attendance of visitors. Luncheon having been partaken of in a marquee on the farm, after which Mr B. Wilkin proposed the health of Mr Walls, the spirited breeder of pure-bred Clydesdale stock, which was drunk with enthusiasm, the business of the day was commenced by Mr C. C. Aikman, auctioneer. After disposing of several well bred cattle and some LincolnLeicester sheep, the horse sale began in earnest. The principal horses sold were : Pride of Lammermoor, 3 yrs., sire Lord Lome, to J. T. Matson for 50 guineas ; Blue Bell, 3 yrs., sire Sir Walter Scott, to Mr J. McLachlin for £55 10s; Lass o’Gowrie, 3 yrs., sire Sir Walter Scott, to J. T. Matson for £52 10s ; Highland Mary, 2 yrs., sire Sir Walter Scott, to Frank Walls for £63 10s ; Flower of Dumblaue, 3 yrs., sire Sir Walter Scott, to Frank Walls for £52 10s ; Glasgow Maggie, 2 yrs., sire Sir Walter Scott, to F. Denton for £55 ; Blossom, 4 yrs., with foal to Pride of Scotland, to Mr H, Yale for £92 10s ; Flora, 4 yrs., sire Prince Charlie, to W Boag for £9O; Lofty, 6 yrs,, with foal ai foot, to G. Trail for £4B; Captain, gelding, 6 yrs., sire Sir Colin Campbell, to W. Grimsby for £sl; Jean, 10 yrs., with colt foal to Pride of Scotland, to G. Edward.for £120; Maggie Lauder, 3 yrs., sire Si) Walter Scott, to J. Maule for £9O. There was yery keen competition for some of th* stock. After the sale of the draught horset several light horses were disposed of at pricefrom £l6 to £27 and £3O, including a hand some chesnut filly, Prairie Flower, 7 yrs,, by pottery, sold to A. HcMillau for £27.
