PARLIAMENTARY INCIDENTS.
MORE COMPLICATIONS. [from the correspondent ok the press.] Wellington, November 12. The Opposition appear to think that their early action against the Government has been premature, and it is understood that they intend giving every facility for the production of a financial statement, which it is believed the Government desire to escape. The Ministerial supplementary estimates include £186,000 for roads all over the colony, for which nothing was proposed, not even for the West Coast road. Since the House met this evening, Major Atkinson moved that the debate on the privilege question be adjourned for a week, and this will probably be carried directly, when the House will go into committee on the Land Bill. Mr Travers's amendment censuring the Government is likely to complicate matters if carried. The Government say that if defeated on it, they will resign and recommend the Governor to send for Mr Travers to form a Ministry, and as he would not act with Major Atkinson, Sir George Grey hopes to break up the party. But the Governor would probably not send for Mr Travers but Major Atkinson, as the leader of the Opposition. There is a growing feeling here that the only way to get on is to form a new Ministry out of moderate men of both sides, ignoring the two leaders.
