MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, November 10. [Before G. L. Hellish, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness. —Fire offenders under this head were ordered to pay the customary fines. Creating a Disturbance.— H. Winelle, for creating a disturbance in a licensed house, was fined 10s, the landlord not appearing. Wilful Destruction. —Margaret Shannon, charged with destroying bottled brandy lo the value of £3, was dismissed, as the owner did not appear. LYTTELTON. Saturday, November 10. [Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M.] Larceny. —Martin Brown, a seaman belonging to the Silas Fish, was charged with stealing a box containing clothes, the property of Bernard Johnson. The evidence of Constable Montray went to prove that ho discovered the box in question at the Saxon Hotel, where the prisoner had left it. An application of the police at this stage of the proceedings for an adjournment till Monday was granted.
