POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to necessary alterations: — WEDNESDAY, November 7th. For Otago, overland, at 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. For Northern ports, per Wanaka, at 1.50 p.m.; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway station, 2.30 p.m. train. THURSDAY, November 8. For Otago, overland, at 6 a.m. For Northern Ports on Saturday, Nov. 10th. For South and Australian colonies on Saturday, Nov. 10th. For Local mails and postal rates, see Guide No. 16. The next English mail via San Francisco closes on or about November 16th. The next English mail via Southampton and Brindisi closes on or about November 19th, Important.—Owing to the interruption of communication on the Northern line of railway the mails hitherto despatched per midday train to Kaiapoi and Rangiora will be discontinued until further notice.
