George Newman was charged with drunkenness and with the. wilful destruction of private property, at Alchin's boarding-house, valued at iiOe. Failing to Support.—Charles Cant was charged, at the instance of his wife, with failing to support his family. Inspector Buckley said that, as instructed by Mr Mellish, R.M., he had made inquiries concerning CharlesCant, and had found that he had been an in» mate of the Hospital since the Bth of September, and was likely to remain there for some time, as he was suffering from abscess in the side. Mra Cant said that her boy earned 12s a week, and that she herself took in washing. The Magistrate thought she should be able to live on such earnings. At any rate he could not make an order against her ailing husband. The case was remanded till the 29th instant.
