Cunningham and Co., agents. The s.s. Wakatipu arrived this morning. She sails for Sydney, via Wellington, this afternoon. The s.s. Tni, Captain Wills, arrived last night. She sails for Kaikonra, Wellington, and Foxton, this evening. WRECK OP THE MARY SHEPHERD. A recent telegram reported the wreck of the ship Mary Shepherd. The vessel has been several times to Auckland under Captain Peek, and is well known at the various ports of the colony. She was owned by Messrs Lidgett and Co., of London, the owners of the barque Columbus, now in Auckland harbor, and whose master, Captain Esson, has handed to the “ Herald ” the following brief record of the disaster .-—The mail just iu from Manilla brings an account of the wreck of the British ship Mary Shepherd, which sailed from Mauritius on April 19th, in ballast, for Manilla, and which struck on a reef south of Manilla Bay about the middle of June. She broke up so rapidly that there was no time to get the boats out, but the mate and 17 of the crew managed to get on shore. The master (Captain Caroline), the cook (White), and two apprentices named Thurmen and Smith, failed to reach land and were all drowned, [u the morning, the survivors found they were on Luhaii Island, south of Manilla Bay; and iu a day they were received on hoard a small coaster and taken into Manilla. The Mary Shopherd was of 905 tons register; she was built of wood at Sunderland in 1858. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Bluff, October 31. The Alhambra arrived at 3.15 p.m. She loft Melbourne on the 24th. Had a fine weather passage. Brings 46 saloon and 23 steerage passengers, and 233 tons cargo for all ports. Sails to-night for Dunedin. Passengers for Lyttelton—Messrs Tennent, Hoggarth, Mrs Peatherston; live steerage, eighty-two tons cargo. Port Chalmers, November 1. Arrived Steamers Hawea, from Lyttelton ; Alhambra, from Bluff; and Albion Co.’s ship Dunedin, from London, with 36 passengers, 2000 tons cargo, and 10 tons powder. She left London on the 30th of July, crossed the Equator on Sept. 7th, iu long 29 W„ and passed the Cape of Good Hope on October 2nd. Had comparatively good winds and settled weather, and passed the Snares on October 30th. Had light baffling wind down the coast, and made Otago Heads at 6 a.m. today.
