The Zealandia Quarantined. Yellow Fever Suspected. Another Fire in Wellington. Wellington, October 25. The ship Zealandia, which arrived in harbor this morning via Rio Janiero, lias to be placed in quarantine. One sailor died during the passage, and another is now ill of yellowfever, it is supposed, though it is uncertain. All the passengers are in good health. Last evening Detective Farrell discovered what might have become a disastrous fire. In passing down Queen street, lie noticed a glare of light in a house at the corner of Dixon street, and on getting inside found a lot of papers and documents on fire. The place smelt strongly of kerosene, and the papers were saturated with it. The occupants of the house said they were not aware there was any kerosene in the room, which was occupied by another person, who was then out. The property was insured in the South British for £4OO. An inquiry is to be made into the affair. At the inquest on the late fire, a searching investigation into the stoppage of the water was recommended. There was no evidence to show the origin of the fire. Napier, October 25. The Natives seem inclined to contribute towards the Indian Famine Fund. Tareka contributed £lO. The Eelief Committee yesterday sent to Madras, by cable message, £2OO. DUNEDIK, October 24. It is stated that the Mayor will tender lub resignation at a special meeting of the Council to be held to-day. The annual meeting of the Railway Club, of which Mr Conyers is president, was held last night. The finances of the club are in a satisfactory condition. The first annual show of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association will be held nt Forbury Park on the 28th and 29th November. It promises to be a great success. The list ol judges includes several Canterbury ; entlemen. A meeting of the committee of the Indian Famine Relief Fund was held last night. The total receipts so far amounted to £llOs. The Mayor was instructed to remit £4OO, in addiI ion to the £7OO previously forwarded. The " Times " understands, from a private letter from Wellington, that one immediate rffect of the accession of the present Government to office was to stop an extensive order i or railway material from England which had been sent by the late Government, notwithutaudiDg the resolution of the House,
