[PER PRESS AGENCY.] Melbourne, October 20. The Singapore and Penang cable is interrupted, but steamers are frequent. INTERPROYINCIAL. [per press agency.] Napier, October 20. At Tye’s half-yearly sale of stock at Waipukurau there was a large attendance, and the demand for store cattle was brisk. Some draught horses, bred by Messrs Nairn, fetched from £29 to £4l each, Mr Tye reports the sale of Bell’s Santane property to Messrs Handipike and Roberts, of Otago. The property consists of eight, thousand acres freehold and a thousand acres leasehold, fifteen thousand sheep, two hundred head of cattle, and thirty-two horses. The price has not been disclosed. Dunedin, October 20. Advices have been received that the Italian Opera Company will leave Melbourne for Dunedin on the 24th Inst. The boating season was inaugurated to-day by a procession around the Upper Harbor. The proceedings were under the auspices of the Rowing and Sailing Association, and all the Dunedin Rowing Clubs were represented. About £7OO will be subscribed in Dunedin in aid of the Indian Famine Relief Fund. A conversazione took place last night to celebrate the formal opening of the Dunedin Athenaeum. The exhibits were of an interesting description, and the attendance was 1 arge.
