POST OFFICE NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to necessary alterations: — MONDAY, October 22. For Otago, per overland, at 6 a.m. For Northern ports of New Zealand, per Taupo, at 1.50 p.m.; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway, 2.30 p.m. train. JVJ ails per Arawata will close as under: — For the United Kingdom, via Southampton and Brindisi, at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. For Otago, Australian Colonies, India, China, the Continent of Europe, &c., &c., at I p.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. Money orders, 11 a.m. Registered letters, newspapers, books, noon. The Brindisi mail will be due in London December 17th, and the Southampton December 24th. Late letters for mails per Arawata can be posted in the guard’s van of the 2.30 p.m. Lyttelton train on Monday, October the 22nd, provided that such letters bear, in addition to the full postage, a further single rate of postage as a late fee. For London, per Chimborazo, at 1 p.m. Letters must be endorsed per “Orient lino,” otherwise they will bo despatched in the ordinary manner. J. J. FITZGIBBON, Chief Postmaster.
