POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to necessary alterations FRIDAY, October 19. For Otago, overland, at 11 a.m. Mails per Hawea close as under:— For Northern ports of New Zealand and Sydney at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. For the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, the Continent of Europe, America, Canada, Sandwich Islands, &c., &c., at Ip.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. For the issue of money orders and registered letters, noon. For book packets and newspapers, noon. The British mails will be due in Loudon December 6th. The American mails will be due in San Francisco November 15th. . Date letters for mails per Hawea can be posted in the guard’s van of the 2.30 p.m. Lyttelton train on Friday, the 19th instant, provided snch letters bear, in addition to the full postage, a further single rate of postage as a late fee.
