POST OFFICE NOTICES.

! Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to necessary alterations: — THURSDAY, October 18. For Otago, overland, at 6 a.m. For Wellington and Nelson, per Arawata, at 1.50 , p.m.; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway station, 2.30 ', p.m. train. ] For Otago, per St. Kilda, at 1.50 p.m.; late letters * 2.10 p.m.; railway, 2.30p.m. train. As this steamer i may be delayed at Timaru, letters for this mail " must be specially endorsed per St. Kilda. FRIDAY, October 10. > Mails per Hawea close as under: — | For northern ports of New Zealand and Sydney I at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. t For the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, ! the Continent of Europe, America, Canada, Sandi wich Islands, &c, &c, at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20 ip.m. For the issue of money orders, noon. For book packets and newspapers, noon. The British mails will be due in London Decernber 6th. Tho American maila will be due in San Francisco November 15th. Late letters for mails per Hawea can bo posted in the guard's vau of the 2.30 p.m. Lyttelton train on Friday, the 19th instant, provided such letters bear, in addition to the full postage, a further single rate of postage as a late fee.
