THE MINISTERIAL CRISIS.
Otnt correspoudent telegraphs from "Wellington to-day as follows regarding the Ministerial crisis majority was against them, declined to debate the motion, and by 9 o’clock all was over. Sir R. Douglas had paired, but remained in the House by mistake till the door was locked and so was obliged in honor to rote with the Opposition. Messrs Macfarlane and Johnston while declining to vote with the Opposition would not support the Government, and so the rote was carried. Mr Joyce had announced : bjs iateatjoa of votiog with the Goverojjieat
but did not. The House adjourned after the division till half-past seven to-night. The new Ministry is spoken of as being composed of the Hon. J. Hall (Upper House), Messrs Larnach, Rolleston, Curtis, Ballance> Travers, Gisborne, and Montgomery, but nothing has transpired. There is much speculation as to whether the Ministry will resign or ask for a dissolution. The Opposition members are very reticent as to the formation of a Cabinet. Ministers attended an Executive Council meeting this morning, and are said to have handed in their resignations.”! From another and thoroughly reliable source wo have received the following telegram “The Governor is going to send for Mr Larnach, on the recommendation of the late Ministry. This is certain. It is rumoured that Sir W. Fitzherbert is to be Premier, and Mr O’Rorke to be Speaker. There is no other reliable news.” Another correspondent telegraphs:—The Government hold office till their successors are appointed. Mr Larnach has been sent for. An adjournment will be asked tonight till Monday for the formation of a new Government. There is nothing definite, but there are abundant rumors. Mr Larnach is spoken of as Premier, without portfolio; Mr Sheehan, Native Minister; Mr Rolleston, Minister of Justice ; Mr Montgomery, Treasurer; Mr Travers, Attorney-General; Mr Bastings, Minister of Land ; Mr Gisborne to go to the Upper House and take office as Colonial Secretary.
