YESTERDAY'S TELEGRAMS
[Reuter's Special Telegrams to the Press Agency,] Sydney, October 6. The Sydney “ Morning Herald’s ” special, under date of 27th of September, telegraphs as follows : —There are 14,000 wounded Turks at Plevna. Chefket Pasha is forming a fortified camp at Gurkhinie, with the view of keeping open the road from Plevna to Sophia, and organising another relief force for Plevna. The mobilisation of the Servian army continues. Two millions of francs for that purpose has been received from Russia. The Cable Company have kindly forwarded for the New Zealand press the following message from Victoria. The Agent-General under date London 27th, telegraphs:— There is nothing new from the seat of war. The relief of Plevna is confirmed. The Indian famine fund has reached £270,000. [SPECIAL TELEGRAM TO THE DUNEDIN “STAR.”] London, September 27. Fighting has been renewed at Plevna. The Porte has not refused the British fleet admission to the Dardanelles. The Q,ueen has assented to a Queensland Act for the prevention of the influx of Chinese. The English Government have sent a warning note to the Emperor of China re the Woosung Railway.

[per press agency.] Wellington, October 6. It has been announced by a prominent Oppositionist that a direct no-confidence motion will be tabled on Monday, and that a majority is assured. The Opposition members dine together tonight. Kdmara, October 6. The examination re the murder of Joseph Daniels was continued to-day from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. Walter and Frank Daniels, sons of deceased, seven and nine years of age, gave evidence. The latter is a most intelligent boy. Nothing was elicited to criminate the accused. Dunedin, October 7. A now morning paper is to bo started in place of the “Guardian,” which was amalgamated with the “ Times” on Saturday.
