MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.

CHRISTCHURCH. Friday, October 5. [Before C. Whitcfoord, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness. —Ellen Boyle, charged with being drunk and disorderly, admitted the offence. The Magistrate remarked that the accused had been a frequent offender. She pleaded to be let let off, and said that she was going to leave the place, as she had been sent for by her uncle at Hokitika. Her aunt had the letter. The aunt was then called, and she said that the uncle had advertised for the accused. She did not know in what newspaper, but several people had seen the advertisement. The Court, having satisfied itself that no trace of the advertisement could be found, said that it could not deal so leniently with the accused us he had been willing to do, for the accused had been so often before the Court. She was sentenced ;to fourteen days’ imprisonment. A first offender was fined 5s and cab-hire. LYTTELTON. Friday, October 5, [Before W.
