COUNCILLOR TOOMER.
To the Editor of the 6l>be. Sib,—While thanking you for your notice and friendly advice, I must say that I had fully considered the points raised by you before I prosecuted Mr Banks, and I was satisfied that Mr Banks was not a duly qualified candidate; also, that he came forward with the full knowledge of his contract with the Council, consequently he made void the votes of those who supported him. I shall act on your assertion that I am the legal candidate, and shall take my seat in the Council with the assurance that I shall meet there nine gentlemen whom I trust I shall always have the pleasure to treat as such, and under all circumstances shall give my support to any measure that is for the in e est of, not only of the south part of the city, but of the city at large. I think it would be a slur on tho3e who supported me, and an injustice to the citizens, to put them to an unnecessary expense and trouble for a fresh election, when I was, all the time, the truly elected Councillor. Yours, &c, HENRY TOOMER. October 4th, 1877.
