The Manawatu Land Orders Bill was introduced by Mr Whitaker and read a first time. educational district boundaries. In Committee on the Education Bill, and on the second schedule, the boundaries of the Auckland education district, Mr Sheehan withdrew his amendment to make the boundaries the same as those of the provincial district, and proposed then to include the whole of the Auckland provincial district except the county of Wairoa, which he was willing to see attached to Hawke's Bay. Mr Bowen insisted on Cook County being also attached to Hawke's Bay. Sir G-. G-rey moved a further amendment to make the Thames county and borough separate education districts, saying if this were carried he would propose having each county a separate education district. Dr." Wallis thought the North Island should be divided into two education districts and the Middle Island into three districts, or else every county should be an education districtMr Rowe supported Sir Or. Dr Wallis proposed to make Hawke's Bay, Wanganui, Taranaki, and Wellington districts one district. This was negatived on the voices. Kaikoura County was, on Mr Harper's motion, taken out of Marlborough, and added to North Canterbury. Mr Stout proposed to have only one district for Canterbury. Mr Wakefield strongly supported a South Canterbury district. The motion was negatived on the voices. Mr Shkimski proposed to add County of Waifaki to South Canterbury. Negatived on voices. Mr Thomson proposed an amendment to make Mataura the boundary between Otago and Southland districts, instead of adhering to county boundaries. Messrs Lumsden, Joyce, Hodgkinson, and Wood opposed the amendment. Mr Stout supported it. Mr Revnolos thought one Board for the whole of Otago and Southland sufficient. Mr Ma can drew agreed with this, even if the Board was to meet at Invercargill instead of Dunedin. Mr Thomson's amendment was lost by 26 to 19. Mr Stout proposed to take Lake County out of Southland, and to put it in Otago. This was lost by 20 to 13. The discussion was interrupted. PARLIAMENTARY INCIDENTS.
