Sailed—September 22. Sea Bird, brigantine, 154 tons, Brownell, for Brisbane. C. W. Turner, agent. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s ship Waikato cleared this day, and sails during the afternoon for London. She takes a large and valuable cargo and about thirty passengers. The barque Australian Sovereign arrived last night. The Eotorua arrived from South at 9 a.in. to-day. She sails with the outward Frisco mail this afternoon. The s.s. Tui arrived at 7.30 p.m. last night. She sails on return trip North at six to-night. The s.s. Easby, Captain Anderson, left Port Chalmers at 4.30 p.m. and cleared the Heads at 5.10 p.m. on the 20th; had brisk head winds to Banks’ Peninsula; thence strong northerly winds to rounding East Head, followed by light variables to Lyttelton, arriving at 4 p.m. yesterday. She was berthed at the Steamer’s Wharf, and after landing mails and passengers, sailed for Sydney, via Weilington and Newcastle, at 5.30 p.m. The barquentine Argosy, Captain Couch, left Newcastle on the sth instant, and had light winds and fine weather to arrival off Cape Terawiti, when she encountered a severe southerly gale; variable and light winds prevailed thence to arrival. On Wednesday last was in company with a barque bound south, but could not ascertain her name. Captain Conch broke his leg on September Ist, before leaving Newcastle, but is doing well and hopes soon to be about again. The barque Dragon left Port Chalmers for this port on Wednesday last. Owing to the fresh nor’-easter none of the vessels in the stream were able to proceed to sea yesterday. The brigantine Sirah and Mary arrived from Amuri Bluff yesterday with a cargo of limestone. The ship Waikato clears and sails to-day. A brig from the North was signalled last night. SHIPPING TELEGEAMS. Hokitika, September 21. Sailed—Alert and Lady Don, for Lyttelton. The steamer Wallace got off the Spit last evening, not damaged. Auckland, September 21. The Galatea, barque, has arrived from London after an uneventful voyage of 104 days.
