Mails close at the Chief Post-office for the following places as under, subject to necessary alterations:— MONDAY, September 17. For Otago, overland, at 6 a.m. " For Northern Ports, per Wanaka, at 1.50 p.m. ; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway station, 2.30 p.m. train. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Claud Hamilton, at 1.50 p.m. ; late letters, 2.10 p.m.; railway, 2.80 p.m. train. TUESDAY, September 18. For Otago, per Jftotorua, at 11 a.m.; late letters, 11.20 a.m.; railway station, 12.10 p.m. train. For Nelson, Westport, and Greymouth, per Maori, at 11 a.m. •, late letters, 11.20 a.m.; railway station, 12.10 p.m. train. J. J. FITZGIBBON, Chief Postmaster.
