The revenue collected at the Customs on Thursday amounted to £1857 12s Od. The following were the items:—Wine and spirits, £lB4 2s 6d; ale and Btout, £57 8s 9d; cigars, £45 15s 8d; tobacco, £47; coffee, £8 14s 6d; sugar, £2B 9s Id ; cocoa, £ls 6s Od; currants, £l4 5s lid ; vinegar, £47 17s 6d; drapery, £378 Os Od; saddlery, £55 12s Od; candles, £62 10s Od; grindery, £22 4s Od; carpets, £76 6s Od; leather, £7 9s 10d; boots, £B3 12s Od; stationery and fancy goods, £2l 2s Od; sundries, £487 12s 7d.
At the sittings of the "Waste Lands Board on Thursday, 11,217 acres 1 rood 38 perches were disposed of, realising £22,435 8s 6d. The land was situated as follows :—Ashley, 756 acres; Selwyn, 299 acres 1 rood 38 perches; Ashburton, 1167 acres; Geraldine, 160 acres; Waimate, 8835 acres.
