CITY ELECTION.
DECLARATION OF THE FOIL. The result of the polling for the City Council seats was declared this day at noon by Mr Q-. L. Lee, Returning Officer, There was a large attendance of ratepayers, and the various candidates received applause on making their appearance. Mr Lee declared the result of the poll to be as follows: W. Radcliffe ... ... ... 1367 W. Pratt ... ... ... 1288 «T. G-. Ruddenklau ... ... 1 H. Thomson ... ... ... pyy A. W. Bickerton . 949 C.T. Ick ;. 875 J. A. Bird 830 C. E. Briggs 735 E. H, Banks .. ... ... 594 H. Toomer 555 S. C. Farr 531 W. Tremayno 481 A. Ayers ... 4,72 B. Cass 413 H. B. Sorenson ... ... 300 R. Binstead ... ... ... 185 The Returning Officer then declared Messrs Radcliffe, Pratt. Ruddenklau, Thomson, Bickerton, Ick, Bird, Briggs, and Banks duly elected as City Councillors. The various candidates, except Messrs Thomson, Bickerton, Ayers, and Toomer, briefly addressed the electors, and Mr Radcliffe having proposed a vote of thanks to the Returning Officer, the proceedings terminated.
