Earl Derby on England’s Intervention Bombay, September 7.
Earl Derby, at Liverpool, said the present time was unfavorable for intervention in the war by third parties. When the time arrived—and it was perhaps not far distant— England would not lose the opportunity. INTERPROYINCIAL. [pee peess agency.] Auckland, September 8. Morris Hyman has been committed for trial on four charges of forging share transfers. Captain H. W. Mist, who arrived by the mail, is authorised by the Hawaian Government to make arrangements for the emigration of Maoris and Friendly Islanders to the Sandwich Islands to resuscitate the failing population. He will commence operations in Auckland. Dunedin, September 8. The Canary and Poultry Association’s annual show has been held yesterday and today. The number of entries was not so large as in previous years. The formal opening of the Dunedin Working Men’s Club was celebrated last night by a banquet, at which Mr H. S. Chapman presided. About 150 persons were present. The new buildings are fitted up with every convenience. The club comprises 400 members.
